Fleece Yarn

It's time to change hobbies from the outdoor-gardening-type stuff to indoor pursuits. I love fall/winter, for that reason alone! During summer's activities, I set aside quilt patterns and fabrics, yarns and patterns, till the time of frost.

This week, I was in the fabric store, and a lady walked in with an unusual ball of yarn. With it, she had a portion of a lovely fingerless glove she was knitting. This yarn looked different, but then I don't keep up-to-date with the latest yarns, either. Didn't take long, however, to realize it WAS indeed different. She was buying fleece!

As we talked, she said that she buys fleece, cuts it in 3/4" wide strips, to within 1/4" of the edge of the fabric, alternating edges as you go. As you cut the strips, the fleece rolls into a nice round tube, creating a very workable, soft "yarn". One of the other beauties of this is that you don't have those little threads that catch your hooks or knitting needles, as you work! And cheap!! Oh my!! No comparison to the price of real yarn!!
